Mr Earl James entered the Northern Territory surveying industry in 1952. He was a principal and the manager of the firm James, James and Lea Pty Ltd from 1968 to 1980 and in 1980 he established Earl James and Associates in partnership with Gary Nairn. Earl retired in 1998 and Gary entered federal politics. The firm is now operated by Kevin Dodd, Greg Leach, Greg Edwards and a dedicated workforce, many of whom have been with the firm for over 17 years.

From it's beginning as a sole practitioner , the firm has grown into the largest survey office in the Northern Territory. This continually growing business now employs over 25 Territorians.

Earl James & Associates has played a major role in the Northern Territory’s major infrastructure projects while continuing to provide surveying services to the whole community.

The commitment to quality, training and technology updates has resulted in Earl James & Associates being at the forefront of the Northern Territory’s land development and spatial information industries.
